I like to brush up on a few Christmas carols so I have produced a version with multitrack trombones using the Open Source PC software “Audacity”, a great software tool for musicians. I looked up the music online by doing a Wikipedia search to identify the composer, so I could find a simple image of the tune presented above. You can see my pencil notes on the printed page I used to work out arrangement and scored new trombone parts for me to record.
I used the free open source drum machine, “Hydrogen” to keep the beat while recording and playing each track separately. The drum track not needed on the final mix of all the tracks.
There are a few digital tricks in the final sound, I recreated the sound of the trumpet and bass trombone by change pitch with the software, and of course put all the track through the reverb chamber that produces the acoustics of a larger church. There you have it I hope you enjoy listening and Happy Christmas to you all.
