Looking back at my 2025 photos reminded me of the visit to the Wild Uplands art exhibition at the Penistone Hill Country Park near Haworth.

The Bradford City of Culture 2025 helped launch four new installations on the moor: Tower by Steve Messam, 99 Butterflies by Meherunnisa Asad with Studio Lél, Muamba Posy by Vanessa da Silva and The Children of Smokeless Fire by Monira Al Qadiri.
I visited the exhibition shortly after it was open in June it was a bright sunny day although very windy on the exposed moor. I remember enjoying standing with the cosy woollen walls of Steve Messam’s Tower a short respite from the relentless wind.
99 Butterflies exhibited in sandy oasis the scale of the work and labour involved in it production was very impressive, each butterfly being fabricated with different coloured marble a unique design.
The whole exhibition is a surreal experience. I am looking forward to going again to see how well the installations have weathered the winter storms.
